Mântric formada em 06/07, quando Pedro e David decidiram deixar o Extol para se concentrar em outras partes da vida. John Robert, Tor Magne e Ole Halvard continuou a escrever material para um novo álbum, que eles sabiam que acabaria simplesmente em um álbum que contribui para trazer a criatividade de volta para uma cena da música pesada que havia sido esquecida pelo metalcore americano produções Wannabe rockstars por vários anos . Kim Akerholdt, o baterista talentoso de bandas como Silver e Gângliojuntou-se ap Mantric um pouco antes de entrar no estúdio "Taakeheimen Lydrike" no coração de Oslo, durante o verão de 2008. A gravação durou quase um ano em locais diferentes, e Anders Salomon Lidal (Tsunami, Benea Reach, Serena Maneesh) contribuiu com um monte de loucura por meio de seus inúmeros pedais de efeito e sintetizadores analógicos.
O álbum de estréia, "The Descent" foi mixado por Tue Madsen e lançado pela Prosthetic Records em abril de 2010.

Mantric
formed back in 06/07, when Peter and David decided to leave Extol to
focus on other parts of life. John Robert, Tor Magne and Ole Halvard
continued to write material for another album, that they knew inside
would end up simply great - an album that would contribute to bringing
back creativity to a scene of hard music that had been sedated by
american metalcore, fashion, expensive (and dead) productions and
wannabe-rockstars for years. Kim Akerholdt, the very talented drummer
from bands like Silver and Ganglion joined Mantric a while before
entering the studio "Taakeheimen Lydrike" in the heart of Oslo during
the summer 2008. The recording lasted for almost a year at different
locations, and Anders Salomon Lidal (Tsunami, Benea Reach, Serena
Maneesh) contributed with a lot of madness through his numerous effect
pedals and analogue synths.
