Bloc Party pode estar tendo uma pausa após a turnê que termina em julho, mas em 12 de agosto no Reino Unido e 13 de agosto, em os EUA, eles vão lançar um novo EP com cinco músicas. As Sessões Nextwave será lançado via Frenchkiss / Co-op, e apresenta faixas que eles realizaram ao vivo em sua turnê recente. Este é o seguimento do ano passado Four.
"Ratchet" e "Obscene" foram gravadas com o produtor Dan Carey, que já trabalhou com Bat for Lashes, Chairlift, Franz Ferdinand, entre outros. Aqui está o Kele disse sobre "Ratchet":
"'Ratchet" foi a primeira música que gravou com Dan. Ele realmente se uniram, enquanto estávamos em turnê em 2012. Começamos a trampar juntos no início deste ano, apenas para testá-lo e as reações foram loucos. Nós sabia que tinha algo especial. "

"'Ratchet' was the first song we recorded with Dan. It really came together whilst we were on tour in 2012. We started slipping it into the sets at the start of this year just to try it out and the reactions were insane. We knew we had something special."
